How Google+ Can Benefit Your Business

 In Blogging, Social Media

Google+ isn’t always the first item you order on the social media menu, but you may be missing a great opportunity to increase visibility for your business. Investing even a little bit of time and energy into your business page on Google+ can improve visibility for your business. With search engine algorithms constantly evolving and becoming more intertwined with social media, the lines where SEO stops and social media channels begins are becoming more blurred every day. You can use this to your advantage with Google+.

Here are two major benefits of utilizing a Google+ page for your business:

Maximizes Exposure

Search engine optimization is all about getting your website found by your potential customers, and Google’s got the majority of the market share when it comes to search. The content you post on your Google+ page can rank in Google search results in some instances where your website may not. This is why we believe it is a good social media channel to post content that links back to your website. Whether it’s a blog, a home page, or photos, once that link is posted on Google+, there is more of a chance it will be seen and clicked on by a viewer which can help improve website traffic. Each post has a unique URL and, when the content generates interaction, can potentially rank in search results. It is a great way to get your business seen by potential customers where it would not normally be seen.

Integrates With Other Platforms

Other social channels like YouTube and Gmail are linked to Google+ which helps gain even more exposure. Since Google owns YouTube, creating a channel on YouTube instantly means you now have a Google account – so why not take advantage of that? Make sure your YouTube account is set up with a preferred email to use for your Google+ account and you can now kill two birds with one stone (so to speak.) Further, the email you set up your Google+ account with will also now be linked to your Gmail account. This means when your email is viewed that a little avatar will show up next to it, indicating a Google+ account (see below). Don’t forget to make sure your avatar is properly branded with a profile picture that depicts your business. When you hover over this image, a box will come up that links directly to the Google+ page of the person.
